It is a great joy to journey with our 2nd graders as they prepare to receive Jesus for the first time in the Most Holy Eucharist. This Sacrament is the foundation upon which our entire faith stands. We believe that Jesus is truly present with us and desires for us to receive Him. What a gift! As such, we strive to offer our children and their families many opportunities to grow in their faith through an authentic encounter with our Incarnate God throughout the year, including making their first Confession.
Requirements for the reception of First Holy Communion:
Child must be at least 7 years old
Child must be validally Baptized
Child must be able to regularly practice the faith through Mass attendance and parental support
Child must receive adequate preparation either through a Catholic school or Parish Program
Child must be free of all mortal sin and have made their first confession.
If your child is not currently Baptized and is in 2nd grade, please contact the parish office for more information on Baptism. If you have an older child or teen seeking Baptism or a Baptized child or teen seeking Frist Holy Communion, please see our RCIA Page for more information on this process.
Families with a child who is not currently enrolled in a Catholic school will need to also enroll in our Family Faith Formation program to receive adequate preparation for First Holy Communion and fulfill the requirement for parents to provide ongoing formation in the faith.
