Youth Faith Formation at Divine Mercy strives to form young disciples of the youth of our parish community. We do this in collaboration with and in support of parents as the primary formators of their children. Our goal is never to take the place as primary catechists, but instead to walk with parents as they live out this part of their vocation.
Family Catechesis | Grades K - 7
This program is for any parish family with children who are not currently enrolled in a Catholic school OR for a Catholic school family wishing to supplement their religious education. It will take the place of our traditional Tuesday evening PSR/CCD classes and will include a series of family formation nights, at-home activities, and community nights. All elements of A Family of Faith include the whole family - parents AND children.
Divine Mercy Youth | Grades 8 - 12
Divine Mercy Youth" is a high school ministry for all 8th through 12th grade students. Our aim is to help teens grow in intentional discipleship through prayer, community, and formation. Divine Mercy Youth is held on Sunday Nights following the 6pm mass. Divine Mercy Youth will serve as the catechetical program for all students who are not in Catholic school.
First Reconciliation and Communion | Grade 2
For baptized children who are ready to receive these Sacraments, and who will have received two years of formation before the Sacrament either through parish catechesis or Catholic schooling.
Confirmation | Grade 11 - 12
For students who are ready to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, have received the sacraments of reconciliation and communion, and who have received the last two years of formation either through parish catechesis or Catholic schooling. Confirmation will start in the spring semester.
Middle School Youth Ministry | Grade 6 - 7
Middle school youth group is an additional opportunity for all students in 6th and 7th grade from all schools. We provide opportunity for formation, fellowship, fun, and faith twice a month.
Our adult faith formation ministry must engage the particular needs and interests of the adults within our parish family. To be faithful and effective Divine Mercy will offer, over time, a comprehensive and systematic presentation and exploration of the core elements of Catholic faith and practice—a complete initiation into a Catholic way of life. We will do so in a way that is accessible to adults and relates to their life experiences, helping them to form a Christian conscience and to live their lives in the world as faithful disciples of Jesus.
This integration of actual life experience, diverse adult learning needs, the study of Scripture, and the teaching of the Church's tradition will create a vibrant learning environment. It will also challenge the creativity of those who establish the direction, plan the content, and provide programs of adult faith formation. Meeting the challenge is both demanding and rewarding.
