Sacristan Ministry

The sacristan is a position of which many have little knowledge, but one of great importance to the facilitation of liturgies and Eucharistic celebrations.

The duties of the ministry of sacristan involve ensuring the vestments and mass linens are clean and in appropriate condition for liturgies.

The sacristan also keeps the physical facility for worship clean, orderly, well-stocked, and makes sure all approaches to the facility from the outside also have a clean, ordered appearance suitable for a pleasant, prayerful atmosphere for worshipers attending liturgical services.

The sacrsitan helps answer questions by worshipers to allow the celebrant to maintain a prayerful demeanor in preparation for the celebration of the eucharist, funerals, weddings, baptisms, etc.

The sacrsitan alerts the pastoral team of any maintainence needed to ensure that liturgies can proceed.

These duties will necessarily require the cooperation of various other ministries to ensure proper, ordered liturgical celebrations.

Every parish community is a family of faith, the Body of Christ, and it is the whole Body that participates in the liturgy.
