FOUNDED ON THE VALUES OF JESUS
We are so glad you have made a connection with Divine Mercy Parish. Here is some information about our faith community:
We, the Parish of Divine Mercy, a Catholic community, are committed to Christ, valuing faith, love, trust and unity. Inspired by the image of Divine Mercy and relying on the Holy Spirit, we are called to reach out with endless mercy to those who are searching for God and gather all into Our Lord's home, to spread His Word, to educate our youth and assist those in need.
Divine Mercy Parish was founded on July 1, 2009 when two neighboring parishes in Kenner, LA, Nativity of Our Lord and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, were merged. Divine Mercy parishioners began worshiping in one facility on November 16, 2013, when Divine Mercy Church, in Kenner, was dedicated.
In 2000, the Pope John Paul II declared Sister Faustina, a Polish nun who had received messages from Jesus about the mercy of God, to be a Saint. He also dedicated the Second Sunday of Easter to be Divine Mercy Sunday. The message of Divine Mercy is threefold:
1. God has infinite Mercy and Love for everyone
2. Trust in that Merciful Love
3. Show Mercy to others
→ In addition to the Sacraments and spiritual and corporal works of mercy, there also five basic elements of the devotion to Divine Mercy:
1. Image of the Divine Mercy.
2. Chaplet of Divine Mercy.
3. Hour of Mercy (3:00 pm).
4. Novena to the Divine Mercy.
5. Feast of Divine Mercy (Second Sunday of Easter).
